The bluestone linear pavers and the clay bricks are now completed as well as the new custom bluestone pool coping. The project is now completed and a transformation to this property that will last for many years to come.
Completed project with new clay pavers, custom bluestone bullnose pool coping and bluestone paver bands.
We were asked to provide a design to update this tired pool area. The existing concrete pavers had faded out completely over the years. Our recommendation was to exchange the concrete pavers for handmade clay bricks, they will never change and with the colour variety, we could match the house and timber fences.
Bluestone is used on other parts of the property so we incorporated new thermal finish bluestone pavers into our design to tie all the areas together. The bricks were laid in a running bond and the bluestone pavers were selected to be rectangle bands laid horizontally and vertically through the landscape.
We moved the areas drains to correspond with the design and selected residential-scale stainless steel grates.
The pool liner as is stood has an outdated installation. The white liner band is visible and unattractive. We had the liner finish altered just below the surface and designed a custom bullnose bluestone coping that cantilevers over the pool edge by 2". This change to the pool is dramatic!
The paving was completed this fall and in the spring we will update the photographed to show you how it all came together.
This shows a typical construction detail for in-ground liner pools, a concrete pool apron is poured around the pool edge with a visible white pool liner band. To upgrade this look and make the pool look like a ‘gunite’ pool we remove the concrete apron and add a stone coping that cantilevers over the edge and conceals the liner edge, we then pave up to the coping using stone or brick pavers.
Completed newly paved and fully heated driveway. Paved with a random laid paver with a brick solider course edge, a granite band and cast iron decorative trench drain. No more ploughing or shoveling necessary for our long winter months.
The front entrance was updated also by us. We recommended the reconstruction of the existing stone veneered walls and added bluestone treads, landings and wall coping. The driveway as well as the stairs are all heated for our long winter months. A powder coated bronze handrail was designed for safety and style. LED lighting was added for all the stair treads and under the wall coping.
